Russia and other CIS countries appear as a long term potential market for European exporters of goods. For the export of some goods (electrical equipment, computers, edible goods and others) the mandatory certification of conformance with Russian norms and standards is required. This certification is comparable with European CE Marking. However, CE Marking and most international quality standards are not recognised by Russian/CIS government for the purpose of conformity assessment for Russia or CIS. That is the reason for a separate certification procedure by authorized bodies. The document which declares this conformity with Russian norms and standards is the GOST R certificate.
